Eric J. Breitenbach
Eric J. Breitenbach (born December 14th, 1986) is a Canadian drummer, songwriter, and producer. Primarily known for his innovative and eccentric drumming style, he performs/has performed in numerous groups, including Char2d2, Drugzndreamz, Mia Moth, Digable Planets, the Vandettas and many others. Eric is completely self taught, having started drumming around 1996. In 2005 Eric Breitenbach left Thomas Haney high school in Maple Ridge to go try out for Lake Forest, California’s HORSE the band. Upon returning home to Vancouver, he formed metal band Hair Trigger with guitar player Jon Steeksma (Fighting For Ithica) and frontman Angus Lummis (Entropia). The band played several shows in Canada and recorded an album in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at Joe Mattis’ Range Records. Shortly after Hair Trigger broke up, Breitenbach joined Canadian rock band Le Finn. Comprised of brothers Corey and Matthew Abell and frontman Michael Edwards, the band played many shows, sharing stages with Bella (Mint Records) and illScarlett (Sony Canada). In 2008 Le Finn recorded an album at Vogville Studios in Coquitlam, BC with guitar player Joshua Parrett (Running Red Lights, Vandettas), engineer Nels B. Taylor and producer Jonathan Fluevog. Joshua Parrett and Eric J. Breitenbach started a production team and began collaborating with Killawatt recording artist Heatwave in 2009. The team recorded several songs including Heatwave’s Hotter Than July track Bills to Pay. Also at that time, Breitenbach began playing in Vancouver duo Char2d2 with Charla McCutcheon. They played shows to promote the Small Vampires E.P. (produced by Tegan Quinn) throughout 2009-10. Upon McCutcheon’s move to Paris, France, Eric joined Vancouver bands Mia Moth (along with guitar player and producer Allan Rodger, singer Kara Fraser and bassist Scott Tucker), Drugzndreamz (with Drip City producers Marc Nyiti and Michael “Nova” Nelson) and started the Vandettas (with production partner Joshua Parrett, Emmanuel “Heatwave” Matovu, keyboardist Stefania Mazzucco along with Killawatt artist Lamar Ashe, and fellow Mia Moth bandmates Rodger and Tucker). Mia Moth has shared stages with Mickey Avalon, and Dirt Nasty to sold out crowds around Vancouver and the lower Mainland. New band Drugzndreamz have played shows with Last Gang recording artist Trouble Andrew and French electronic band Dirtyphonics. Eric has collaborated with many artists including Tonye Aganaba, Randy Ponzio (Quest Poetics) and DJ Abell (Familia) Eric is also an in-demand recording and live-for hire drummer recently having recording opportunities with Canadian musician/producer Ryan Dahle and as live drummer for New York City rap group Digable Planets.
